My journey began with studying fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC and Rivier College in Nashua, NH. During this time I discovered a passion for working with leather as a medium. This love for craftsmanship and design led me to create Carol Mentos Leather, where I share my handcrafted, quality leather bags and accessories with those who value timeless style and artisanal detail.

Each piece is meticulously made by hand with some adorned with Trapunto quilting-a technique that adds dimension and textured quality to each design. Originating from Italy in the 14th century, Trapunto involves padding specific areas of the design to create a raised, sculpted effect, often used to highlight intricate patterns or motifs. Traditionally seen in fabric work, I've adapted this technique for leather, bringing both depth and a tactile quality to my pieces. Every item reflects my dedication to quality, creativity and craftsmanship, ensuring that you carry a piece that's not just functional, but one of a kind.
